"There's only one way to settle this... a write-off!" The words are those of Queen Victoriana, but Charlene smirks as she hears them. She knows he's part of a team with his artist - without her, Dan will have half of a light novel.

"Your writing is on fire." Stefanie says. "I know." Says Dan - confident in the cheat skills given to him by the Goddess. "No - the manuscript! It's smoldering!" The publisher declares, reaching for a blanket to put it out. She knows this has to be Charlene's doing.

Charlene Dickens stews, from the top of the mansion she bought with the proceeds of her writing. The blonde plays with her ringtail hair as she ponders: Who is this Dan Phaeton? And why is he outselling Martin Chuzzlewit?

"It's time to _write_." Dan says, his trenchcoat glowing with a blue outline as he summons two typewriters into existence. One for each hand - his cheat powers make him more than capable of dual wielding.

"I don't understand", said Stefanie, her bosom barely contained in the strict Victorian top she wears. "Why would a novel sell better if it has pictures of onsens in Feudal Japan?"

Just to clarify, I meant - more or less - that there's a lot of work that goes into actually making the builds of Ren'Py, moreso that the games that run it. A build of 7.6/8.1 takes about 51 GB of disk space.

Useful tricks for Ren'Py VNs: If you hit V you activate Ren'Py's self-voicing, which reads the script out loud for you. S takes a screenshot and puts it in the VN's folder. No annoying snipping tool or phone camera picture of your screen needed!

I ran Ren'Py natively on my M1 mac for the first time today. There's still a bit to do, as I'll be combining x86_64 and arm64 into a universal binary, but it runs.

Ren'Py 8.0.3 and 7.5.3 have been released. These releases upgrade the targeted Android version, give more control over how pauses and timers interact with modal screens, and add Ukrainian translations of the Tutorial and The Question. renpy.org

It looks like itch.io had the misfortune of having their TLS certificate expire on a holiday.

I updated the 8.0.3 / 7.5.3 prerelease. lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtop Note that I changed how the new modal property of pause and timer work - 'modal True' means respect modalness, 'modal False' means to ignore it.

2022-06-26: Ren'Py 8 "Heck freezes over" is released to the world. 2022-07-01: Macross is coming to the US, something that we all know would only happen when hell freezes over. I don't think I can take credit, but the timing is sure suspicious.
