Stupid #Lifehack for #phd students. If you run your experiment on a large dataset just break the dataset in smaller chunks und run the experiment several times. Now you can put confidence intervalls to your diagrams which makes supervisors and reviewers happy #phdlife #phdchat

Sometimes the result of a pathfinding problem happens to be the same as the result of a minimum cost flow Also sometimes the result of a multiplication is the same as addition (eg 2x2 = 2+2) but multiplying & adding solve different problems -->Use min cost flows for LN-payments

One of the things that I can't get my head around is that 18 months after our results and 1 year after the piecewise linearization together with example Code this is not an industry standard yet... One would think payment delivery and high SLAs should be of utmost importance

I do find this a very interesting result, but I believe that the future of route finding in LN belongs to min cost flow, not shortest paths.

use the #LightningNetwork. This ignors the space for channels & liquidity management. I'd say there's quite some room for growth of adoption. Waiting for 2k LN withdrawls/deposits per 10 Minutes (;

So @bitfinex is averaging ~10k #bitcoin LN ⚡️ deposits/withdrawals per month. Average amount is ~0.02 $BTC . @bitfinex nodes passed 1.2k $BTC cumulative. "And yet it moves."

Can somebody please explain to me two things? 1st: What is the stock to flow ratio of onchain space? 2nd: Why is #Bitcoin priced higher than onchain space? (I am wondering because it seems to me that onchain space is way more scarse than 21 million tokens)

Please stop overselling. Your points are not even half of the friction lightning faces. You missed at least: 6. Payment reliability (!) 7. Liquidity management 8. Network congestion 9. Channel janming 10. Hot wallet risk 11. Stuck payments 12. DoS attacks

To the best of my knowlege price signals in energy markets are used for long term supply & demand but not short term flow control. E.g. winter price is higher than summer price. Afaik electricity spot price is on purpose not in realtime. Would be great if an expert could verify!

While I will say that one reason is that I feel frustrated by some of the misinformation (not to say occasional overselling) that is being circulated the more important reason is that I think that strong and sound technology must be able to withstand substantial criticism. 2/2

Of course all of that would boil down to the fundamental open question: With whom do I open a channel of which size and why? In the Ideal / best case peers would have an agreement for this matching problem which would also be reflected in an agreement on routing fees / prices.

It is similar to agreeing on onchain fees for mututal channel close ( just more complicated ... ) peers should collaboratate on this. Besides everyone who has knowledge about fluid networks knows that flow control via price / fees is bad because the network will not stabelize.

about exactly this problem. We need a protocol (with game theoretic sound incentives) for peers to agree on a routing fee & split of revenue. Lnd approach is unstable. Fyi

Of course as @TheBlueMatt says, it would be more efficient to simply tell your peer to give a kickback, and have them charge more. But @zerofeerouting's node might (have) just refuse to do that, so this way does have some transparency benefits.

Genau das muss ich entscheiden. Wegen der Nürnberger Blockade wird ja auch noch etwas kommen und ich bin mir gerade unsicher, ob ich zwei Hauptverhandlungen möchte oder ob eine reicht. Das könnte ich mit vorhandenen Spenden zahlen. Nur: 6 Wochen absitzen wäre schon viel Zeit.
