Charisma Carpenter has come out about Joss Whedon abuse before, & I saw a lot of people excuse it as justified anger b/c she got pregnant while cast in his show. Please consider how hate for pregnant people in particular is something that's left out of most #MeToo
conversations.

Also, like...we need to expand our conversations. Abuse on film sets isn't just sexual. It's abundantly clear that, if you read between the lines, Joss Whedon was pretty verbally abusive to James Marsters & there's never been public outcry over that.

James Marsters has explictly said he was traumatized by how the attempted sexual assault was shot in Buffy & while I accept it's never easy to film those kind of scenes, there's a lot to be said for how Joss Whedon handled it & how he made the trauma so much worse.

So yeah
#IStandWithRayFisher & there's no doubt that racism has played a part in why he wasn't believed but I also think we need to have a much larger conversation about abuse on sets outside of sexual abuse. The abusive director isn't a work hazard, it's criminal behavior.1 reply 18 retweets 110 likesShow this thread -
Film & TV sets are WORKPLACES. They are not magical lands where a genius creates beauty by abusing his employees. They're as much a workplace as a factory. That means you DON'T ABUSE YOUR EMPLOYEES & that includes verbal, physical, & sexual abuse.

If you, as a director, cannot create magic w/ amazing performers w/o abusing them, don't be a director. We wouldn't accept that from a forman or shop owner & we shouldn't from directors & other creative people. #IStandWithRayFisher
