This is untrue. There are currently 51 federal terrorism, material-support & hate crimes statutes which can (and have) been used to prosecute domestic terrorism in the past. I would be wary of giving the DOJ more power when they haven't shown that they are willing to use it to properly investigate and prosecute white supremacists and far-right violence, and instead use it to target communities of color and protesters. They need new policies, not laws

It's worse because Trump just called the massacres committed by domestic terrorists a mental health issue so these gun toting white nationalist/supremacists terrorists can continue their killing sprees and get classified as mental health, so justice is voided out!
