Latest @release_notes exposes that only top ~3000 App Store apps are able to support one person on a median income ($50K.) Go learn to code?

I wouldn't be surprised if recent fascination w/ wearables and IoT is heavily influenced by indie app development being unprofitable.

@eli_schiff hw looks like the go-to monetization strategy for indies, look for example at 53’s pencil. Hard to believe sw wasn’t enough.

.@duncanwilcox The platform, not the medium, is the limitation.

@eli_schiff how are the two not interlinked? It’s now culturally ingrained that $3.99 is an expensive app.

@duncanwilcox Exactly. Due to platform incentives: http://stratechery.com/2013/why-doesnt-apple-enable-sustainable-businesses-on-the-app-store/ …

@eli_schiff so it follows that, since it’s culturally ingrained, the medium is now inevitably limited by the platform.

@duncanwilcox Exactly. Design obviously suffers too when indies have no budgets. I want to see more pushback.
