Succinct summary on the state of A.I. and Humanity - "Society is not ready for a step function inflection in our ability to costlessly produce anything connected to text. Human morality does not move that quickly, and it’s not obvious how we now catch up."
/5 I'm skeptical that transformations can be achieved whilst most of my default sensory faculties are undisrupted. An analogy can be drawn to training wheels on a bike - Very appealing for control, but fundamentally slower, and less capable.

/4 If sober control is the benefit, then I'll probably just avoid that inner confrontation, or tepidly dip my toes in. But then the depth of transformation is shallow and limited. If frame disruptions are critical for healing, then hallucinations might be complimentary?

/3 Am I romanticizing? If psychedelic therapy is effective because it induces "radical frame disruption" in a caretaking environment - Then encountering my lurking demons whilst staring clearly at office furniture, vs tripping doesn't make them go away.

This A.I. poem about TikTok and Capitalism is astonishing... But, my gob smacked feelings diminished after I noticed #chatgpt was copying exact lines. Writer's prose is largely ignored, unlike DALLE-2 which respects the artist's unique style. See photos 👇
Poem by Shakespeare about TikTok and Capitalism
Same prompt, but written by Dickinson. Notice the exact line copies and rhyming schemes.
Note how this DALLE-2 generated image reflects Van Gogh's unique style. Prompt: "painting of a beautiful winter scene, includes a house decorated for Christmas, by Van Gogh"
Notice how this image, despite having obvious similarities, has a completely unique artistic feel to it. The only thing different about the prompt is Pieter Bruegel as the artist instead of Van Gogh.

Aye , I thought you were at your best when you loved your enemies. Remember Steelmanning the other side? Rogerian arguments? The SJW left are human beings, even if they don't treat you like one. Your tongue is spicy these days - so much venom. Wishing you well.

Free speech is essential, but absolutism is also tyranny. So what *should* get you banned from Twitter? How about when you host an event at the Capital that lead to riots, disruptions to democratic process, and deaths? I dunno, seems like a pretty reasonable precedent.

Seems like 99% of conversational breakdown is resolved by allowing people to define their words: E.g. "Ok, I'll play with your definition of X" compared to "No, X must be defined my way". The former encourages perspective taking/empathy, the latter serves dominating narratives.

The challenge of defining "life" is resolved by perceiving the whole universe to be alive, and entropy just has the upper hand in some regions.

This is coming. I wonder if this will decimate non-real time in-person, face-to-face communication. The environmental impact of this would be incredible. We were so close to being able trust remote async communications, these communications are not trustworthy.

This weekend I built =GPT3(), a way to run GPT-3 prompts in Google Sheets. It's incredible how tasks that are hard or impossible to do w/ regular formulas become trivial. For example: sanitize data, write thank you cards, summarize product reviews, categorize feedback...

To what degree did you find this to be the case? Was the amount of consulting requests above or below what you would expect from institutions who got it wrong? I'm interested in your experience as a corruption / rent seeking barometer. Thank you!
