    Why is the ratio of AST:ALT = 2 in heavy EtOH users? takes it to the cellular level for . Hepatocytes have AST and ALT in cytoplasm but only AST in mitochondria- EtOH preferentially damages mitochondria, so more AST will be released into the serum!
