But this all just started with Trump or something.

Respectfully, sir, President Obama's party didn't campaign for eight years on deficit reduction, right? Also, AP did cover Obama's deficit strategy, warts and all. https://twitter.com/AP/status/436810074699620352 …https://twitter.com/AP/status/268503797268099073 …

Except they are not in the same kind of tweet. There is a difference and you know it.
-
The similarity of phrasing makes for a compelling screenshot. But we’re not talking about grammar. We’re talking about coverage. AP covered Obama’s deficit policy. Trump criticized Obama over said policy. It’s newsworthy that the deficit’s no longer a GOP point of emphasis.
-
It is a central issue. Most people are going to read just the tweet and it will manipulate their view. The one you showed isn't an opinion by the AP it's a recap of what a Republican senator said. The other tweets highlight what the AP wanted them to highlight. Big difference.

I showed two tweets. Here's the first one, which didn't get a preview:https://twitter.com/AP/status/436810074699620352 …

Stop it. You are just sowing distrust in the media by pointing out stuff like this.
-
Andrew, dear fellow American....media sold us out for their profit/personal interest, it won't be forgiven anytime soon......don't be a shill...pray for America to be united
-
pretty sure that was sarcasm...

Don’t be too sure, he’s a media guy...

Didn't the deficit decrease in 15 and 16? It's one thing to increase spending. It's quite another to increase spending and decrease revenue
-
revenue is still increasing year to year
-
It has been but after this tax cut it won't be
-
Not true (although all talk of future are estimates) It's difference between a cut and a cut in the rate of growth. Trillion $ cut over 10 years is about 2% of revenue, such as taking in $49T instead of $50T.https://twitter.com/jamiedupree/status/963091279470096384 …
-
So this continuing resolution including massive deficits is a win because projections for deficit decrease (versus elimination) are on the radar?
-
Never said that, I don't know yet. I was only refuting Andy's claim that revenues were projected to decrease, and explained what a cut in growth looked like.

After tax cuts revenue may not be increasing as fast as previously estimated, but it's still going up.https://twitter.com/jamiedupree/status/963091279470096384 …
-
More accurate way to put it: spending is increasing at a much faster rate than revenue is estimated to increase. 2019's deficit is estimated to be over 18% greater than 2018's.
-
But after 2019 revenue is projected to increase faster than spending, with annual deficits decreasing year to year
-
Also, the caveat that these are all estimates. We could see sustained 4% growth or we could have a recession.
