I remember back in 2012/13 when feminism was all about "Lean In" and "can women have it all?" and some of us pushed back hard, earning ourselves a reputation as "impossible to work with" because we were talking abt what we saw as an escalation of racist violence

and I am not saying "feminism" (as vague and imprecise as the term can be) would have prevented this but then I remember how like 54% of white women voted for Trump. and THAT is a failure of feminism, focused on "leaning in" rather than vulnerable populations

so when I see the photos and the purposeful cruelty now taking place in the US, I do not see them as exclusively Trump's doing. He has only dialed up what Obama had already been doing and has further expanded what has been going on in the EU for decades.

my point is, I guess,what Trump is doing is neither original nor unique. It's also been happening across Europe and is an extension of globalized capitalism. A determination to maintain transit of goods and capital but prevent migrants from following suit

and if we look across history, the centers of Imperial power tend to accumulate resources in detriment of the periphery, who suffers poverty/ deprivation. Only technology has facilitated, to an extent, human displacement to follow these resources

Trump/ the EU are enacting migrant policies in line with protectionism in the sense of preventing people from having access to the center of power. as deprivation grows, so will the violence and cruelty to protect these centers of power and keep them white/available for the few
