This is an interesting example of how people react to the concept of emotional labor. The relationship is good and works, but social conditioning says it's somehow an insult to frame relational compatibility as a result of conscious effort rather than magic warm fuzzies.

This reply is everything! If we were all more intentional in our relationships rather than flying by the seat of our emotional pants we would see red flags faster, set boundaries quicker, and dive in healthier rather than feel our way to a mess. I like the gf, she’s smart.
