Not forgetting that there is no maternity unit at the Alexandra Hospital. It was taken away against the wishes of Redditch people!

There has been a shortage of midwives for a very long time. Hunt going round looking for praise for eventually tackling the problem is nauseating.

Perhaps midwives should be current mature nurses given extra training preferably , like you, with experience of child birth . I doubt a youngster can be trained from a book .

That shows how little you know about the role of a Midwife and demeans the fantastic midwives who have not experienced childbirth (yet).

@redditchrachel: I’ve had four babies in the NHS and I know how important midwife care is. At that critical moment, they are there for you. This announcement is timely and will be welcomed by Mums and families.pic.twitter.com/YRHD1eyhSVThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Its not timely, midwives have been asking for more staff for years, you only put the money in when it suits your agenda, the NHS is dying under your care
