Surely it is only possible because a Government which has enabled year on year increases for MPs has finally extended its largesse to the NHS but is still denying such provision to the Police, FRS, Education?

Pay rise over 3 years = 6.5%. Compound effect of predicted inflation rates over the same period = 6.6%. Net result at end of 3-year period; slight real-terms pay cut. It's not real-terms wage growth and certainly not something to get self-congratulatory about.
