Much as I'd like the connectivity funding to be tied into the project, it would be daft to try to pull all that scope into the project... That's a recipe for disaster.

The member for Stoke Central doesn't quite grasp the capacity benefits to secondary lines. I agree with the disparate Birmingham station issue. Work to be done. Nice use of "gnarly" in relation to the M6, too.

Not sure about the "first new railway since Victorian times" comment from @redditchrachel, though she is spot on to highlight the benefits to intermediate station services that HS2 can offer.

(Selby diversion, HS1, Airdrie/Bathgate and Borders Railway all include stretches of brand new railway alignments)

Aha! The first mention of @NCHSR by @michelledonelan... It isn't tied directly to HS2, but the shortage of skilled engineers and technicians will only be made more acute by the megaproject and @NCHSR will be instrumental in reversing this trend.
