Are you suggesting a company - regardless of size - would also need to be profitable in order for worker status to be default? (If so Uber wouldn't be caught by that, for eg). Your post mentions "large and profitable"

If classed as self employed, surely that means multiple clients. One client would sit firmly as "employed"? Flexible working makes for a better lifestyle for some. Maybe have option of higher hourly rate for self employed. Lower rate but with NI & pension hols etc for employed.
