Could not agree more @redditchrachel I don't know we're this is going to end, and it does not help that local council's are taking the easy option and just removing what is in affect our history
As a former Scout Leader with 15 years experience I am deeply troubled by this development. I have seen so many kids lives transformed, from all backgrounds. Why are we so keen to distract from real arguments and concerns by focusing on statues? Every time I see the word statue I want everyone to recall this current ‘debate’ has arisen because of the death of George Floyd.

Don’t think the article is suggesting we do away with the scouts. It’s just recognising that BP as with so many others were much more complex than we know or were told. Need to understand he was invited to meet Hilter & said Mein Kampf was a wonderful read.

Yet I heard on the TV this morning that he changed his mind as the Nazis showed their true colours, and was on a Nazi hit list if they had invaded Britain.

Some agree what you are saying about Scouts movement. News yesterday stated the statue wasn't going to be removed & Cllr Mark Howell [Con] would take further advice from police. Now boarded up for safety. Stick to your true beliefs instead of trying to bat both sides for effect.
