Remain parties polled a greater share of the vote than leave, the results are NOT a clear mandate to respect anything of the kind. A clear rejection of Tory policies reinforces the need for the people to have a final say on any deal & these results + leadership contest MUST = GE!
This is a clear mandate to respect the result of the referendum and leave the EU deal or no deal, and shows negligible support for a second referendum. Fewer people voted for the Brexit party (5.2m) than signed a petition to revoke A50 (>6m). I think Brexiters should recognise the democratically measured evidence that sufficient people across the UK oppose leaving the EU to reopen the discussion to leave. 1/2.

My preferred approach to reopening such a discussion is to have a citizens assembly that asks "what should the relationship between the UK and the EU be?" And use the resulting definition from that assembly as a basis for designing a deal between EU and UK. 2/2
