They are imposed if they are taking place in the Chamber when all MPs are summoned to the sitting. Forcing non-believers out of part of Parliamentary sessions makes non-believers lesser citizens
In 20 months of being an MP and attending all sessions this has never happened. They are always optional. Please give an example of when they are “forced” on MPs during a sitting?
By putting Christian prayers first it effectively acts to allow Christian MPs preferential access to seating. We know many who put in their prayer card simply to have a shot at taking part in the debate which follows! Why should religion be embedded in Parliament in this way?
So everyone else has to wait outside for you to finish? And once you're done they can take whatever seats are left over? Hmmm...
By happening in the Chamber. All MPs are summoned to attend. On Monday the sitting starts at 2:30. It doesn't start at 2:35. A diligent MP who attends at 2:30 is forced to attend prayers.
Yeah but you get a better spot if you go to the prayers don’t you? Should keep religion out of politics!
