To all those who say we don’t need #HS2. WE DO. Standing room only on the 16.47 to Birmingham this evening. Not even peak time (I’m sitting on the floor)pic.twitter.com/MF3T1vIUsI

I know its slower but I always used Chiltern and never had to stand. Also much cheaper. Haven't been to London for 7 years though. Free parking for rail passengers at Solihull or Dorridge as well.

I am on Chiltern. Always use it because usually more seats! Virgin never has any.

Pop an extra carriage or two on or improve the line / service patterns maybe? No, let's blow £56bn on #HS2 to build a new line to Birmingham and another £63bn to get it to Manchester and Leeds to assist the privileged few.

With respect.....every Rail journey in UK made at peak involves corridors filled with people standing or sitting on floor......the DFT warned MPs this would be the result of building #hs2 as there are cheaper opinions.....so I’m afraid every commuters nightmare is your fault!pic.twitter.com/LclaJFfAOa

The other benefit of the alternatives to HS2 is that crowding will be eased almost immediately. HS2 - which may prove of limited help anyway - will not be ready for over a decade, maybe two.

We don't hence the 2 likes #HS2 is an unpopular waste of taxpayer money

That's really funny because the business model to justify £60+bn #HS2 will require a future 16:47 #HS2 train to be full too.

£3 billion already spent on #HS2 without a track being laid when all you needed was another carriage? I hope your constituency isn’t short of any police or nurses.

a Season ticket on HS1 for the 58 miles from Ashford is 6k a year so safe to say #HS2 will be 12k in todays money from Brum. About half the median UK wage. That's why the average user is predicted to earn high income. Of course for MPs it would be free. For the few not the many.
