Yeah definitely. Oh and let's not forget first seeing the skill tree for FF10. I usually don't mind trying to get a few levels higher than my next encounter but FF really pushed those limits, even just to match the level.
I'll never forget FF-13 being a massive grindfest, having to go to little nooks and alleyways to fight slugs and other small monsters to try and defeat the next big boss. FF in general can require a lot of grinding to be honest.

I replayed it 2 years ago and on another replay and there wasn’t a point in it that necessitated grinding outside of the chapter 11 hunts, which are optional. Story bosses aside from maybe one late-game one were manageable with strategy. It was harder as a teen for me than now.
