The best adviceses I ever read before DMing:
1. Never say no to players! Just make them roll, things may be difficult, but rarely have to be impossible
2. Make critical fails a fun event! We definitely look forward to rolling 20, but rolling 1 is also hilarious
for point 2, that's what keeps me going because I am known for my 1s but they're hilarious every time :')
