Starting to feel that effect as a hearing-impaired person when talking to people who wear masks. Went down to talk to the delivery guy and had to get him to repeat till he shouted... Masks are absolutely relevant but it's interesting seeing how much you depend on lip-reading.

And here's a fact about hearing-impaired - raising your voice is NOT effective. You lose the ability to hear pitches or tones, so if you shout, to me it sounds like a louder mumble behind a mask. This is why lip-reading is so important as it verifies what I just heard. Ah well!
