  1. Just because a litter bin is over-flowing doesn't necessarily mean it's too small or not emptied often enough. Most of the time this is caused by someone shoving a large amount of waste in all at once, filling the bin. Report an overflowing bin at

  2. The less waste - rubbish & recycling - we collect, the better. Most forms of waste cost us money to deal with. The best way to help the environment and the public purse is to try and reduce how much waste your household produces.

  3. Did you know our Enforcement Team, when they're not investigating fly-tips and other waste offences, also deal with reports of abandoned vehicles? We had around 450 reports of abandoned vehicles on Dorset's roads in the last 12 months.

  7. Most of the rubbish produced in your bathroom can be recycled 🚽 Popping your recyclables into a bin/bag in your bathroom is a great way to ensure they don't get mixed with the stuff that we can't recycle (toilet paper, wipes, cotton buds etc.)

  8. Sometimes we use more than one vehicle to collect your kerbside waste. This means we'll empty one of your bins and then another crew will come by later to empty the rest. Please wait until 4pm before reporting a missed bin on your collection day 🙂

  9. Just because it was once in the garden doesn't necessarily mean it's garden waste... You can find out about our Garden Waste service and what exactly can go in the garden waste bin (either at the kerbside or the tip) at ♻️

  11. Crisp packets are not currently recyclable at the kerbside, but they are one of the main items that keep turning up in recycle bins 😕 These should be either recycled via Terracycle's Crisp Packet Recycling Scheme or put in your rubbish bin. Check out

  14. Baby on the way this year? Congratulations! 👶 Have you considered using Real Nappies? They could save you over £600. A baby produces 5,000 to 6,000 disposables in the few years it requires nappies, compared to only 20 to 40 modern washable nappies.
