Trying to change your child’s gender identity and/or expression is abuse and parents don’t have any right to abuse their children. ROGD parents are abusing their kids and should be dealt with accordingly. Trans kids need resources to get away from such abusive parents.
It’s infuriating to see ROGD parents try to present themselves as victims and their abuse/efforts to control their kids as "concern for children's well-being". Even more upsetting to think that they can use "family values" to plead their case and find a lot of supporters.
ROGD parents are some of the most dangerous transphobes because they have access to trans youth and are likely to find support among many conservatives and even a significant number of liberals. They and their supporters are the ones protesting and targeting clinics.
I see a lot in common between the ROGD parents and the “autism warrior” parents. Both act like their child has been “stolen” by autism/being trans and see their children as property.
And of course mumsnet is well known for both. What were my friends who are mums of autistic kids told on that forum? "You just need to discipline them harder."
