Trying to change your child’s gender identity and/or expression is abuse and parents don’t have any right to abuse their children. ROGD parents are abusing their kids and should be dealt with accordingly. Trans kids need resources to get away from such abusive parents.
It’s infuriating to see ROGD parents try to present themselves as victims and their abuse/efforts to control their kids as "concern for children's well-being". Even more upsetting to think that they can use "family values" to plead their case and find a lot of supporters.
ROGD parents are some of the most dangerous transphobes because they have access to trans youth and are likely to find support among many conservatives and even a significant number of liberals. They and their supporters are the ones protesting and targeting clinics.
They better not act surprised if their child reacts by distancing themselves as an adult, that's what happens to abusers. When people grow and speak up about this hopefully others in the future will know better.
