Stella O'Malley believes that gender dysphoria is a coping mechanism for ordinary human ennui, like alcoholism or eating disorders (which in my mind is very dismissive of the particularities of both alcoholism and eating disorders). I find it so appalling.

Figured that was the case. I'll probably give the transcript/video a closer look at some point. Can only take so much of that shit at once.

It's darkly funny to me, as someone who went through actual eating disorder treatment (like 15 times), that this is exactly the stuff that was tried there, and failed to work bc I had gender dysphoria, not an eating disorder.

I was the only 'girl' at the treatment center that refused yoga days bc the idea of feeling myself in my body was so vomitous I just wouldn't stand for it.

Wow that reminds me in every single one of its details and particulars of the shit "ex-gay ministries" were arguing a decade ago. They did not like it when I pointed out that I, as someone with chronic illnesses, wasn't keen on their "no solution but an instant permanent one"

They have the wildly privileged idea that the way all psychology and medicine works by finding the discrete, easily disentangled cause of a problem and then simply addressing it and now you're "fixed" And any solution that isn't that is a "conspiracy" by "big pharma"
