As someone who used to hang in transphobic rad fem circles, I can verify that they got way more bioessentialist over time. They started out talking about social construction and gender abolition but now some of them think "male people" are practically a different species.

Really freaked me out watching some people's beliefs change and get more extreme over time. Some of them basically made up "fascism but for lesbians" and it's creepy as hell. Lesbian separatism can get really gnarly, especially when it makes transphobia a core tenant.

I remember reading somewhere about a lesbian mother of a son being told by separatists to put ground glass in her son's peanut butter & jelly sandwich. I knew les seps who liked to fantasize about torturing/killing cis men and trans women. They can be a twisted bunch.
