Transphobic groups exploit detrans people and their suffering, often using their trauma as propaganda instead of helping them heal from it. Trans people share many of the same struggles that detrans people face and have an interest in helping them.
I thought I was helping detrans women by working with transphobic feminists. Now I think that "alliance" is harmful and parasitic. I think there would be a lot more practical resources for detrans people if we had chosen to work with trans people instead.
Although I no longer consider myself detrans, I know the kinds of struggles detrans people face. I am willing to work with detrans people to create better resources. Detrans and trans people ought to be natural allies. Together we can create a society where we all thrive.

the trans community will always welcome the detrans community with open arms! It breaks my heart seeing detrans people being used as merely political pawns, and that attention is often mistaken for genuine support by vulnerable detrans people
"Detrans and trans people ought to be natural allies. " Very true, we are. Everybody's experience should be taken seriously and cared for with the same concern. Period. Said concern should be honest and not interested, of course... Sad to read it's often not the case.

I was blown away by this, thank you for sharing, I can’t imagine it’s easy to having to keep describing the trauma you went through, the points you made are so useful in fighting the transphobic bile we face everyday, I’ll be sharing this article with everyone I can 
God knows if anyone knows what it's like to question your gender identity it's us. Also there's no harm in realising that your situation or your own understanding of your gender has changed and it doesn'tean you made a mistake the first time.
