The way they tried to use my trauma was especially terrible and retraumatizing. I ended up taking down some of my writing because of how some of them used it. They came off as very controlling and absolutely horrible at respecting boundaries. I fear for their kids.
Like these people sketched me out back when I was still very transphobic, thought transitioning was medical abuse and trans people were delusional, etc. I thought they were fucked up back then and I think they're even worse now.
They're some of the most dangerous transphobes because they have access/power over trans youth and can draw on respect for "parental authority/parent's rights" in the larger culture. I'm worried about how much damage they can do engaging in/promoting conversion practices.
My argument is based on the idea that saying "no this is a recent thing you got off the internet" is gaslighting and ROGD gives legitimacy to that. The whole...diagnosis? Clinical phenomena? whatever Littman calls it, I think is gaslighting.
Should add though, I am a survivor and that was very much a trigger post from me. So I may be more cutting, and absolute here than I usually would be. Shouldn't triggered then tweet. Anyway, not saying this to be like "GAAAAH". Just wanted to give context to how I got here.
Out of all the transphobes they are the worst cause they have direct acess to those who'll be affected the worst by their ideology. Also what you mentioned about parent's rights/authorities and promoting conversion therapy (tho the former atitude seems to be declining with the +
younger gens as more people start to view kids as responsibility and not property, recognizing kids are their own people which is good for everyone).
It sounds like an ass thing to do. I haven't heard of detransitioning until now. Seems like it's a case of just exploring your identity and still finding what works.
