Seriously, how many trans people have experienced some kind of significant gender identity/gender expression change effort or conversion practice at some point in their lives? I feel like that would be most of us.

I was never brought to a clinic, but that’s why I call it conversion abuse. It doesn’t have to take place in any formal setting to get the lasting effects. Homebrew is just as toxic if not more because it happens behind closed doors and without the veneer of “therapy.”
I'm so sorry that happened to you. This is exactly the kind of abuse that deserves more study and attention. Banning conversion therapy is a good start but there are so many other forms of abuse that need to be resisted too.
