I think this is where a lot of my dad's hang ups over my identity come from, as a single dad he was constantly told that he'd mess me up or abuse me because "daughters need mothers". He was put through so much shit. I think he blames himself for me wanting to be more male.
Sorry that you have to deal with that. It sucks that these kinds of theories still have a negative impact on trans people and our families.
