I'm not trans, I just have crippling gender dysphoria that would be alleviated with medical transition "I'm not trans I have GD" is very "ex gay" isn't itpic.twitter.com/HHzosc9squ

That kind of thinking is super common among ideological detrans people. That's how I tried to suppress being trans. I learned to reframe dysphoria as a symptom of trauma/internalized sexism instead of just letting myself be trans.

People are encouraged to try to find the "root cause" behind their dysphoric feelings instead of seeing them as a sign of being trans. Often this is some kind of trauma. Healing the trauma or other "root cause" is supposed to make the dysphoria go away.

I think I told you this a while ago, but it's very poignant to me that this is so because, pre-transition, I spent a lifetime trying to figure out what trauma had caused my mental health issues and being frustrated that no uncle ever sexually abused me or anything like that.

And, it turned out that these symptoms that many therapists and psychiatrists had seen as hints of a deeply buried past trauma were just... gender dysphoria. Stuff like having trouble being naked/showering, etc.

You end up with a lot of people "struggling with dysphoria", trying to heal whatever was supposed to cause it. Didn't work for me obviously. Working through past trauma lead me to accept being trans and then I stopped feeling so dysphoric.

It also fails to recognize that a lot of Trans people like myself experienced trauma as a result of being Trans and not the other way around. Trying to address the trauma without treating the GD is like trying to heal a stab wound without removing the knife.
