Something that's important for people to understand about secular anti-trans conversion practices is that one of the acceptable treatment outcomes is being gay instead of trans. Being gay is seen as less pathological or harmful than being trans and/or transitioning.

There's no secret plot to "trans the gay away" but people have been trying to make trans people "accept" that we're "really just gay people" for decades because many people are less freaked out by cis gay people than they are by trans people.

It's important to make this history more widely known and help people understand what specific conversion therapies/practices are used against trans people, the thinking behind them, etc. They're not as well documented or understood as anti-gay conversion practices.

Anti-trans conversion practices play an important role in attempts to suppress and control trans people. We need to understand them so we can better resist them and offer support to those who've been subjected to them.
