Listened to an interview with one of the organizers for the DC event and they are definitely trying to court conservative women. Also made it clear that sympathetic men of any political background would be welcome. Her version of "radical feminism" is something many conservatives could get behind since it's all biological determinism, calls for women needing special protections due to biology and so on.
Over and over, she asserted that women are biologically inferior to men when it comes to sports. How the hell is that feminism?Transphobia and transmisogyny piss me off but so does trying to sell biological determinism as feminism. The redefinition of feminism is also dangerous.
To hell with "feminists" who think "women" need to be protected because of biology. To hell with biological definitions of womanhood. The whole idea that rights and protections should be grounded in biology is fucked up and dangerous. It's anti-trans and anti-feminist.
I don't want my place in society to be defined by my biology, certainly not by my reproductive potential. That's why I'm a feminist, that's the tradition of feminism I draw on. This is not just an attack on trans women and girls, it's an attack on actual women's liberation.
