Definitely worth reading Sandy Stone's accounts of her time working for Olivia. I also want to make sure people know that Ginny Berson, one of the founders of Olivia Records, has written a memoir and she describes the attacks on Stone and how it hurt the entire collective.https://twitter.com/RozKaveney/status/1359434722926088193 …

Obviously the transphobic attacks on Stone are bad in and of themselves but it's important to understand how they hurt the larger lesbian community Stone was a part of. Transphobic feminists have a negative impact on the larger feminist movement they seek to control.

Also important for people to know that transphobic feminists have never been representative of radical feminists or lesbians, despite how they try to portray themselves. They're not the "one true feminism" or guardians of "pure" lesbian culture, despite what they claim.

Berson also mentions that Stone did the sound for an album of Judy Grahn and Pat Parker reading their poetry. Stone said hearing them both read was a spiritual experience and I can believe it. I hope Sandy Stone writes her own memoir someday, I'd love to read it.

Ginny Berson's memoir is called Olivia on the Record and it's on Hoopla, so if you have a card at a library hooked up with Hoopla you can read it for free. Pretty interesting look at radical lesbian culture, women's music and separatism.pic.twitter.com/QTBPd4GxSg

Glad you're enjoying it. Berson does a really good job of examining the lesbian culture she helped create, including it's strengths and weaknesses. I love that more people who helped create radical political and cultural movements are writing about their lives and reflections.

Yeah the way it's so reflective and yet so deeply personal is really affecting and important to the continuation of the work they were doing in some ways.
