One more inconvenient detail often left out... It was *detransition* that was the turning point here, not transition. I had been on testosterone for 18 months by that point with no evidence of vision impairment. All medical decisions have risks. Even detransition.https://twitter.com/thatweirdolee/status/1357648763783938048 …

My medical transition was life-changing. It improved my health in ways no other treatment paralleled. I will never regret that. People want to discuss the downsides of transition but not detransition. It’s time to change the narrative. https://reclaimingtransbutch.com/2021/01/a-cripples-defense-of-pediatric-transition/ …

I was watching another detransitioner talking about horrific side effects of Testo withdrawal. Kinda worried about how common it is tbh, especially when hrt withdrawal is often recommended as a requirement for surgery.

I’ve heard similar stuff, especially at higher doses. Really sucks. Lot of folks suggest tapering instead of stopping suddenly but that doesn’t always do the trick either. I tapered and still wound up with problems.

I'm frustrated with how little we know about the health impact of being on HRT temporarily, how to stop taking it safely, etc. If there's research out there addressing those issues I haven't been able to find it. Feel like we should have some guidelines for stopping HRT by now.
