I honestly don't know. Personally I always resisted the 'I always knew' trans narrative until I met again the woman who was my best friend at 5 and hadn't seen me for 60 years who reminded me just how much my parents and school used to police me.

I lean towards it being innate from research done on animais at least for most people but who's to say it's the case for everyone? I think regardless people are hesitante cause it being innate has been part of the LGBT movement for long (born this way) and assuming it's not+

could mean that bigots would take advantage and preach that people can change (and even if they could who cares it's not hurting anyone but alas) and would make it easy to deny rights. Also could lead to abuse by parents esp of gnc kids in fear their kid will "turn gay/trans".

That's the biggest pushback, esp considering conversion therapy is still legal in most places and this is under the belief it's not a choice, if it was it would be much worse. I still believe it's innate just like many charateristics such as eye color, part of human diversity+

Weirdly enough, "conversion therapy" has helped establish how ingrained most people's sexuality and gender is because it doesn't work. Like researching ex-gay stuff was disturbing but also reassuring because even ex-gay people mostly admit now that you can't change people's...

...sexual orientation. You can teach people to control their feelings but you can almost never change the feelings themselves. Ex-gay stuff ends up proving the opposite of what it set out to do. I think we're going to see that with a lot of "ex-trans"/detrans stuff too.

We're already seeing ex-detrans showing up (you and I for instance) we just don't have any media coverage compared to detrans, give it a few years and it'll really start. Ironically radfems believe we'll actually see 1000s of detrans in the next 5 years.

Yeah, I think there will be more ex-detrans people for sure. One reason people in my old community didn't want me going a more transmasc/butch route was they were afraid other people would start getting ideas. Normalize transmasc identities that include female...

...and/or lesbian elements and you'll see a bunch of folks re-transing. That's one good thing that's partially evolved from detrans women's culture, finding ways to integrate transmasculinity with dykeness and/or womanhood.

I think the best course of action is getting our stories out there, esp on the wider LGBT community and orgs with a focus on trans ones. Detrans already have an advantage due to funding by the right and being more palatable to cis audiences and easier to understand.0 replies 0 retweets 3 likesThanks.
