...people claim that all people identity as trans or transition for those reasons. I think sometimes trans people can dismiss certain detrans experiences because they appear similar to some transphobic theories and are used to support those theories.
It's overgeneralizing or using those detrans experiences for transphobic ends that's a problem, not recognizing that people can end up identifying as trans or transitioning for many different reasons. There's not reason why trans people can't support someone who detransitioned...

We often have much in common. Detrans women and transmasculine people can both struggle with the effects of sexism/misogyny, trauma, and gender dysphoria. Many of us have to learn how to survive as a genderweirdo in the larger culture.
Our experiences are different in some ways but we have many commonalities and shared interests. We ought to support each other. While I am critical of some parts of detrans culture, I would hate it if my work ended up harming detrans women. That community was my home for so long.
I aim to criticize transphobia in detrans communities that gets in the way of detrans/trans solidarity. It's in our interests to work together and I want to do what I can to make that happen. I criticize not to destroy but to create new connections in the long run.
