Yep, 99% of my reasoning to enter detrans spaces (and eventually radfem) was an attempt at performing conversion therapy on myself due to being in a transphobic family (even tho a lot of people in those spaces talk about being trans as if it's very socially accepted and easy)
I'm sorry you went through that. Yeah, detrans spaces do act like being trans is way more socially acceptable than it is. Part of what snapped me out of it was living in rural conservative areas while effectively functioning as a trans person even tho I saw myself as detrans.

Exactly! I'm not denying being gay can be a hard and isolating exeperience but I call bs on there being hoards of homophobes who are ok with trans people. My own parents said they would accept me being gay but trans was "too much" and other trans people echo that. That was one +

of the MANY instances where I started to stop and think (and believe there are a lot and some of them were downright disgusting and atrocious and not just towards trans people).
