I’m also very, very glad that I eventually became aware of the damage I was doing and changed course. There's still a lot I want/need to do to be accountable and heal but I don't feel stuck in the past anymore.

Much of the transphobia in the detrans women’s community grows out of transphobia in parts of the lesbian community, particularly among some lesbian feminists. It’s upsetting to see how parts of a culture built to liberate women/lesbians has devolved into a hate movement.

I see addressing transphobia in the detrans women's community as part of a larger project of addressing transphobia in lesbian communities and reckoning with how lesbian feminists have contributed to transphobia in the larger society.
