It is my overwhelming experience that trans men who mostly date women often struggle immensely with the "straight man" role they get given and that part of finding peace includes embracing the queerness in being trans and not trying to assimilate into straight cis world.
This played a huge role in my detransition. The detrans women's community definitely taps into those struggles. It can be a relief to be able to talk about one's ambivalence/discomfort with being a man/masculine and get support but it comes with a lot of conditions attached.
The most obvious one of course being that you have to give up being trans.
Yeah, I can see that. If you feel comfortable answering, I'm curious about to what extent you had access to IRL trans masculine spaces that also had trans men that are many years post-transsition?
