Do you think? I saw it explode shortly after around 2015 when the Christian right pivoted from gay marriage to trans stuff.
I'm not positive. I know detrans women started using "trans-identified" at some point, though I can't remember when. We wouldn't have used it if we thought it was coming from the Right, at least not back then. The detrans women I knew were all very anti-Religious Right.
Fair enough. Can appreciate that it would have been a big deterrent re the religious right. There is obviously the other usage elsewhere where people are talking about the different ways gender diverse people self identify, which is pretty common among trans ppl who read theory.
