I'm still finding language to describe my experiences with detransitioning and the detrans scene I left. Ideologically-motivated detransition is a good start but I'm not entirely happy with it.

I want clear concise terminology to describe how the detrans community I left promoted detransition for trans people and radicalization for detrans people. Both groups of people absorb the same ideology but it affects them differently.

To complicate things further, I know I'm speculating when it comes to understanding the experiences of a detrans person who's been radicalized. I know what it was like for me fo live as a detrans woman but I don't know what it's like to actually benefit from detransition.

So I feel like I need to be careful talking about how transphobic ideologies impact detrans people. I'd be interested in hearing from detrans women who deradicalized but are happy with their detransition.

It's cool that people are reading my essays but I'm worried now if I'm describing things clearly enough. I know from past experience how people can latch on to reductionist narratives that are emotionally compelling.

I can understand how it could be tempting to see all transphobic detrans people as self-hating trans people, all detransition linked to transphobic ideology as conversion therapy but it's more complicated than that.

I have no idea how many detrans people in the rad fem detrans community are repressed trans people. They could be in the minority for all I know. Regardless, it makes sense to criticize the transphobic beliefs and practices of that community.

Even if not all detransitioning in the rad fem detrans community is conversion therapy, people in that community are advocating conversion therapy for trans people when they encourage us to "reconcile with our sex" or pursue "alternative treatments" instead of medical transition.

And some of them are promoting conversion therapy for trans youth and arguing against conversion therapy bans specifically because they include protections for trans kids. That's messed up regardless of if they're really trans or detrans.
