Want to remind folks not to overgeneralize too much from my detrans/ex-trans experience. People are complicated and diverse and can get into toxic ideologies for all kinds of reasons.

There aren't a lot of places where people can explore how gender dysphoria can intersect with trauma or psychological effects of living in patriarchy. There aren't many resources for people who detransition period. People could be seeking out help and end up getting radicalized.

I definitely don't want people to use my story to try to invalidate detrans people's stories. If they're being transphobic, criticize that but let them figure their own lives and identities out.

Maybe I'm being overly anxious cuz in the past people used my story as a detrans woman to invalidate trans people and I don't ever want to be involved with that kinda bullshit again if I can help it.

It's important for me to name what happened to me as conversion therapy/ex-trans self-denial but it's also important for me to emphasize giving people space to figure out who they are. Being deprived of self-determination has made me value it even more and want to promote it.
