Apple: Look at how competitive and open the App Store is! Also Apple: Here is an infographic of apps that are forced to compete with us on an uneven playing field https://www.theverge.com/2019/5/29/18644045/apple-defends-app-store-policies-antitrust-eu-spotify …pic.twitter.com/2gUfnkUqEr

I think it is extremely important for everyone to look at Apple's proffered evidence of competition for FaceTime and then let loose a hearty chuckle of despairpic.twitter.com/KGEUmGreIu

It’s kinda interesting Apple lists Snapchat under Camera and Messaging.

How is the playing field uneven? Are they not allowed to have any preinstalled apps at all? Does that make it “uneven”?

Camera+ is funny because they punitively kicked it out of the store for a period of time for using private API (volume press to take photo IIRC).

Funny that they choose Instagram over Halide as a competing camera app. Hell, iOS has so many great 3rd party camera apps and Instagram and Snapchat are chosen instead.

Every supermarket and department store prioritizes house brands in displays, pricing and placement versus independent brands. The App Store is a store. That is how stores work.

How is that the same as what Apple is doing? Imagine if Walmart or Target only let you get their own brand of whatever delivered? If you want another brand you have to physically go to the store. That’s semi what Apple is doing. Only their apps get to be set as default.

Apple's apps are not set to default. You have to set them up. Pre-installed, yes. An iPhone user does not have to use iMessage or AppleMusic or AppleMaps. You can just ignore them and hide them away in a folder. AppStore or physical Apple Store can sell or not sell whatever.

No you can’t just do all that. Do you even have an iPhone? You can’t set any 3rd party app as the default app and just hide the Apple one what are you talking about. Also Apple doesn’t give 3rd party apps all the api’s to take full advantage of iOS.

3rd Party Apps • can’t be set as default • Can’t utilize iOS to to the fullest • either make less $ and charge the same as they would in literally any other App Store or charge the customer more $ to make up the money that Apple takes These are facts
