The CA governor just signed #AB32 to abolish private prisons in the state.

Yes-and no. Now they’ll be relocated to parts of the country, like Texas and the deep South, where the facilities are brutal and inhumane and the law of the Circuit is nowhere near as good as the Ninth. The importance of making this nationwide just grew exponentially.
However, hopefully this will be like Prop 187, and sweep the nation the other direction.
And there is a good federal court case saying that ICE can’t take people from (in that case Los Angeles) and put them in immigration detention hundreds of miles away because it kills their family support and relationship with counsel. We need mandatory bonds.
