Curious about the performance testing for the Iowa caucus reporting app that crashed last night... Maybe they should've held all of the Iowa caucuses in Amazon Go stores?

So many people struggle to walk away from a bug. We talk about overwork in this industry, but maybe that’s the right place to start. Discovering ways to help people put aside a challenge, turn off their brain, and start again another day.

Alright time for my weekly request for recommendations. Who should I be following in the tech community who is making the world a better place, or who has been inspiring you lately?

It's often missed that DynamoDB offers this type of granular access since so few systems can.

Spent yesterday developing a proposal for clever architecture options, only to discover enterprise cyber security has A LOT of restrictions. I'm not considering this a loss though, since I have new documentation of those restrictions for my team for future projects.

Started working on an architecture diagram for a proposal for my first Enterprise customer facing application built entirely from scratch. The choices for tech & tooling are overwhelming. How do you avoid just going with what you're comfortable with?

So I'm at that point in the winter where I'm reading the Farmers' Almanac for winter weather lore that might indicate a short winter 😬

Don’t assume someone is knowledgeable about a particular subject just because they went to college. Also, don’t mock them for trying to learn. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

So it turns out there's a direct correlation between asking your Twitter following of engineers/devs for book recommendations and having a $300 shopping cart on Amazon.. Thank you all for recommendations! I can't wait to share my learnings as I work my way through the list *~*~*

It's been over 24 hours so I'm finally ready to talk about this. Yesterday, I opened my double sided cabinet from what I now know is the wrong side, and a box of pancake mix fell out, into my shoes, into my backpack, into my computer ports, onto me. You can't make this stuff up.

Alright people - looking for recommendations on good application design/architecture books or blogs to get into on the daily commute. Any thoughts?

So tonight I went to a book release party for friends who wrote and illustrated a children's book. Shamelessly promoting the culmination of months and months of work, so if you have kids/nephews/grandbabies/etc please buy and/or share 💕 ty ty

Happy Friday! Looking forward to a snowy weekend of reading and working on my website. Side note - is it strange to cross country ski on the lakefront path? I'm considering it..

My relationship with coding is either: “I love this career and wouldn’t trade it for anything” OR “Why didn’t I pursue a career as a potato farmer?” No in between 🙅‍♀️

python is a very simple and accessible programming language that's good for beginners, provided that those beginners also have the years of linux sysadmin experience that's necessary to properly install python packages,
