Yes, the original list was mean to be read "progress, and its barriers, and its enemies".

Learning, and considering the same concept from another perspective, would progress/flourishing be most strongly enabled by: - Rationality - Freedom - Rational memes (that hopefully are also beautiful/witty/funny/etc) - Nurturing with an open mind - (exactly what you said) ?

1st thought: there’s def some kind of status quo pref/overconfidence/lack of fallibilism constellation that contributes to all of these 2nd thought: ...but also just a lack of fun-seeking and curiosity and play, and everyone likes these things, so maybe therein lies the leverage
-
Maybe some practicals/actionables could be crafted out of the play and curiosity and fun-seeking. They might be challenging while the underlying mechanism that suppresses them is still there, though. So perhaps also learn the mechanism and its workings as they impede play.

Could you expand on the point about parenting? I get that it reduces the freedom of one actor, but it creates at least one new actor who doesn't share the same limitations, right?
-
I meant parenting needs to be developed so that we don't keep entrenching and passing on our errors through the generations. The new actor only won't share the limitations if something puts an end to parent-child meme transfer. (^drawing on non-coercive parenting + meme theory)

Can we add attachment to ideas or expectations? Stoicism is hyped, but it’s probably not overhyped.
