I grew up in a beauty salon and I went to cosmetology school. Shampooists do more than shampoo hair. They process perms (formaldehyde). They can help with coloring, bleach and other chemicals. They mix all these different chemicals. Sorry some training is not unwarranted.

If you can become a confident emt in 150 you can become a confident stylist in 150 hours. Then again this sounds so ridiculous it has to be clickbait.

What’s your point? —Most judges, utterly flummoxed as to what implications this could have for a right SCOTUS has consistently recognized (if not actually protected) for more than a century: The constl right to earn an honest living free from unreasonable govt interference.

Those of you in other states might think this is unbelievable. But in California its just another day in the zoo.
-
This headline and discussion is completely misleading. A hairstylist needs 1500 hours. Hairstylists shampoo the hair. The training goes far beyond how to shampoo. ;)
-
It is not misleading. In CA, even if you hire someone to do no more than shampoo hair, they must have completed the 1500 hours of training. It doesn't matter that most of that training is irrelevant. In fact, that is part of the point.

I spent 1 yr, actually 2 different semesters, teaching science and math to cosmetology students. So, I do see your point.
-
Actually, some training may seem unimportant for some functions of their jobs but others will still need it to do their jobs. Better to teach everyone, first, a base of information, then use it to specialize into the areas that best fit their jobs.

1500? That has to be a typo...

No, same in NY for a cosmetology license.

This is how upside down California is. If someone calls Animal Control because they think you are abusing your animals. They take them away, but if you call DCFS because a child maybe getting abused they let them died in the hand of the abuser.
