Until recently, at least two states (Hawaii & Michigan) made it *specifically* legal for cops to rape sex workers as long as they called the rape a "prostitution investigation". Both laws were repealed when activists discovered & publicized them.
I just googled this. From what I can tell these laws applied to undercover agents paying for sex acts with sex workers. while this is still abhorrent, it doesn't talk about sex workers in custody. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/can-police-legally-rape-people-35-states/ … claims as I thought: absence of specific laws against such.

And yes, I have read the rest of the article. There are definitely cops that rape sex workers in custody, but it's actually still considered rape in every state where people on-duty in a position of power are involved. It's just that from time to time, false consent claims work.

LOL, no. They work nearly all the damned time. I report an average of two such incidents a week, and normally the cops plead down to BS like "violating civil rights" that don't even require "sex offender" registration, leaving them free to hunt again.
