I'm actually quite impressed that they at least had the forethought to design their systems to support it

Or feverishly modified it? But I think they were using longer numbers before too, in some cases... Now they've just moved to them entirely, looks like.

just the people who think Zoom “at the least had the forethought” or needed to “feverishly modify” some trivial code, certainly not you

If they had to roll out a change to hundreds of millions of users within a timeframe of 2 weeks, that counts as "feverishly modifying", in my book. And if that is what they did, being able to do it is a credit to them.

If they did not need to make code changes, but simply architected so this was a non-issue, that is even more credit to them. And there would likely still have been issues with third-party integrations that assumed 9 digits, because people do that sort of thing.

But please do keep assuming the worst about people and their motivations based on a tweet.

sorry I confused you with the many software engineers being overly critical of zoom recently. The meeting id is a long inthttps://marketplace.zoom.us/docs/api-reference/zoom-api/meetings/meetingcreate …

if zoom or a third party tool is not supporting a long int data type of any kind that would be more surprising. It’s whatever though, expecting people to read the manual is high expectationshttps://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362373-What-is-a-Meeting-ID …

Fully agreed on that last bit about people reading manuals!
